Happy Birthday Bhavya Gandhi!
Bhavya Gandhi, who plays Tapu in Neela Telefilms' popular comic series Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, has turned a year older today. Bhavya is having a working birthday today and he is happy to celebrate his birthday with the entire cast and crew.
When contacted Bhavya, he said, "I am shooting today and I celebrated my birthday on the sets with the entire cast and crew. I am happy to celebrate my birthday with all of them and my reel life Mom and Dad. They gave me lots of blessings and I am happy to get that."

The recent addition to the list of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah fans is none other than the original He-man of Bollywood, Dharmendra.
Says Asit Kumarr Modi, producer and creative director of the show, "Dharam ji is visiting our set to promote his film. But before that, he wanted to see a few episodes of the show. So, we went to meet him with three episodes and expected him to watch just one. But he saw all three while we waited for him to get free, so that we could work out the details of the shoot."
Apparently, Dharmendra told the producer that he had never laughed so much while watching television. He also appreciated Asit's second show, Waah Waah Kya Baat Hai. "He writes shero shayari and poetry. He even recited one of his poems for us. He is a humble and warm person," adds Asit.
Taarak Mehta.. actors were also excited and look ed forward to meeting Dharam ji on the sets. Dilip Joshi said, "It was a dream come true when he came on the sets. I have been a great fan of him since his Chupke Chupke and Pratigya days. And he made my day when he told me that I am a good artist and that good things happen to good people, unexpectedly. His coming on the show was unexpected and a great surprise.."

Star Plus reigns supreme this week too with a total GRPs of 254, when compared to last week’s 242. Zee TV which had dropped last week to the # 3 position is back to the #2 spot this week with GRPs of 193, with a raise of 13 points from last week (which read 180). This development has pushed Colors to the #3 position with a GRP of 181, followed by Sony at the fourth spot with 151 GRPs. SAB TV is at the fifth spot with a GRP of 140 while Life OK is at #6 with a GRP of 127, a considerable drop from last week’s GRP which was 149.

Dilip Joshi celebrates his birthday with superstar Dharmendra
The affable Dilip Joshi who plays Jhethalal Champaklal Gada on SAB TV’s Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is spending a working birthday today (26 May 2013).
The legendary superstar Dharmendra is making his birthday memorable. Dilip said, “He is shooting with us for the promotion of his upcoming film Yamla Pagla Deewana 2.” This is a Bollywood action comedy film which will be released on 7 June 2013.

Dilip (Joshi) taught me how to deliver punch lines with elan and catch the humour between the lines - Mandar Chandwadkar
Mandar Chandwadkar who plays Aatmaram Tukaram Bhide on SAB TV’s Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (Neela Telefilms) has an impressive theatre background. He was in Class 8 when he made his debut in theatre. He has acted in the plays Aamhi Shalet Janar Nahi (a Marathi play) in 1987, All the Best, a Marathi commercial play in 2001 – 2002 which went on to have 450 shows all over Maharashtra, did Hindi Urdu plays in Dubai in 1998 to 1999 titled Roshani, Rajjo Ki Shadi, Mangte Reh Jaoge and from 2003 got associated with English plays like Punch-a-Tantra (which had 200 shows in India, Europe and Malaysia), Monkey Business and Funny Things Called Love with Bharat Dabholkar.
Mandar feels that his theatre experience has groomed him into a better actor for comedy roles which helped him greatly for his current serial Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. “All the Best was a comedy on a hearing impaired, speech impaired and visually impaired characters. I had played the man who couldn’t see. This play helped me to learn about comic timing and how to react. Every good actor should be a good reactor.”
He is also full of praise for his co-star Dilip Joshi. Mandar says, “He is a very nice human being. He taught me how to deliver punch lines with élan and catch the humour between the lines.”
A few years ago the word ‘tuition’ was misspelled as ‘tution’ on Bhide’s nameplate which was outside his door on the sets of this series. Mandar after spotting the error changed it to the correct spelling.
Residents of middle-class housing societies can relate to the soap very well. What is his take on that? “Exactly, as the characters hail from families of the same socio-economic group they can obviously indentify with it. The residents of our series are a part of a cosmopolitan society. In fact when they see each and every scene they can draw a parallel to their lives. All the Indian festivals are celebrated in it too.”
Mandar is pleasantly amused when viewers request him for admission in his class. After all advertisements for Bhide Tutorials (bearing the same title as the tutorial in his show) are splashed all over Mumbai city.
In fact there are viewers who want to purchase his flat as well. We jokingly asked as to what the price of his flat was. Mandar joked, “Bhide will never sell his flat.”
What if Bhide’s daughter Sonu (Nidhi Bhanushali) marries Tappu (Bhavya Gandhi)? His jovial reply was, “Aah, that is a million dollar question. He doesn’t want her to do that. Nor does she. Actually, he finds Tappu undisciplined and naughty. He doesn’t study. In future if he turns over to a new leaf, he would be okay with the match though.”
Mandar is open to playing all kinds of roles in future. His dream role is however of Amol Palekar’s role as Arun Pradeep in the classic Basu Chatterjee Hindi romantic comedy film Chhoti Si Baat.

Gurucharan Singh aka Sodhi refuses to comment on the reason for his not being around anymore in the hit SAB TV show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (Neela Telefilms). “Please ask producer Asit Modi. He wanted me to do several things, some of which I was ready and some I was not after four and a half long years of association with the show.”
Gurucharan also refused to comment whether he was asked to go or decided to quit. “The producer is the boss and he alone takes decisions.”
“I don’t want to talk anything bad about something which has given me so much name and fame. People love me not only in India, but even overseas. Recently I went to the US and folks there recognized me. I was not allowed to pay money in hotels where my fans were there. I wish to give my best wishes to the new actor Laad Singh Maan who has taken my place.”
Looking ahead Gurucharan says, “I am looking for shows which are not similar to what I have done before. I am also open to doing nonfiction shows like Welcome (Life OK) for they are short duration projects.”
When we spoke to producer, Asit Modi on the above issue he said, “Gurucharan had certain issues which I don’t want to comment on. As for Jennifer Mistry Bansiwal who plays Roshan Sodhi we had to let her go because she was pregnant.”

JETHALAL TO CONFRONT BHIDE IN TMKOC:
You have already seen on SAB TV’s Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (Neela Telefilms) that the children are anxiously waiting for their examination results. Tappu (Bhavya Gandhi), Sonu (Nidhi Bhanushali), Samay (Gurucharan Singh) and Goli (Kush Shah) will all be passing with flying colours and Sonu will come first.
Jethalal (Dilip Joshi) will come across a newspaper article which will have Sonu’s photograph. Her academic success is credited to the Khote coaching classes. He will get ballistic as to why Bhide is sending his daughter to a different coaching class. He will feel that this is gross discrimination and that his son Tappu deserves to top the examination as well.
In the upcoming episodes, Jhetalal will take up this issue with the committee of his cooperative household. He will also confront Bhide on the matter.
We called Bhavya Gandhi who said that he could relate with this sequence. “In real life students also wait worriedly for their results. I believe that the marks will be in accordance to the effort you have put in.”
