President Michel Sleiman caused a stir this week when he insisted on sending formal complaints about Syrian violations of Lebanon’s border to both the United Nations and the Arab League. Sleiman has come under a withering attack from some quarters for doing so – with the emphasis on ‘some quarters.’
The president has said, through formal statements and comments to the media, that he is determined to protect the resistance – Hezbollah – while it is active in Lebanon, but not when it becomes involved in fighting in next-door Syria.
But apparently not even this is enough for critics of Sleiman, who have fallen back on their long-held set of principles: The authorities in Damascus can do no wrong, and no one who intends to hold public office in Lebanon can be allowed to criticize Syrian officials.
One may ask many questions in the wake of such criticism. One involves the credibility of parties such as Hezbollah and others who agreed to the Baabda Declaration, which was ironed out under the auspices of Sleiman, if people’s memories require refreshing.
Back then, senior politicians pledged that Lebanon would not involve itself in regional alliances and conflicts. Hezbollah and the groups who are outraged by Sleiman’s actions can start by reminding themselves about their agreement to refrain from intervention.

Politicians ‘cooking up’ Cabinet lineup with haste

BEIRUT: As Parliament begins a new extended mandate Friday after a constitutional body failed to act on petitions challenging the extension, focus will shift to efforts to form a new Cabinet, political sources said Thursday.
The deteriorating security situation in the country, which has seen deadly clashes between supporters and opponents of Syrian President Bashar Assad in Tripoli, Sidon and the Bekaa Valley, is also pushing in the direction of a swift formation of the government.
“Behind-the-scenes consultations are taking place to reach a deal on the makeup of the new Cabinet,” a senior March 8 source told The Daily Star.
The source said the consultations involved Speaker Nabih Berri, former Prime Minister Saad Hariri and Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblatt.
“Something is being cooked up behind the scenes concerning the new Cabinet. Signs of this activity are expected to emerge in the next few days,” the source said.
Jumblatt, who has coordinated with Berri on the 17-month extension of Parliament’s four-year mandate which expired Thursday, is also working with the speaker to accelerate the Cabinet formation.The PSP leader was reported to be in contact with Hariri, who is in Saudi Arabia. Media reports said Jumblatt would send caretaker Social Affairs Minister Wael Abu Faour to Riyadh for talks with Hariri and Saudi officials on the two-month-long Cabinet deadlock.

Officials and religious figures mediate climbdown in Sidon

SIDON, Lebanon: The mufti of Sidon, Sheikh Salim Sousan, expressed optimism Thursday about efforts to defuse tension in the southern city following a meeting with Sheikh Ahmad Assir, whose followers clashed earlier this week with a pro-Hezbollah group. “We discussed the recent situation and I understood from what he [Assir] said that he is committed to safeguarding Sidon and its peace and stability,” Sousan said after meeting Assir at the latter’s residence in the suburb of Abra.
“We’re trying to achieve unity among the residents ... and [prevent] civil strife. Sheikh Ahmad is working to achieve this,” the mufti added.
Tension soared in the city Tuesday when an armed clash erupted in the Qiyaa area between Assir’s supporters and members from the pro-Hezbollah Resistance Brigades, and spread to the Bilal bin Rabah Mosque – Assir’s headquarters – in nearby Abra.
Assir has demanded that two apartments that he claims belong to Hezbollah personnel be vacated by Monday, although political sources told The Daily Star that the deadline would likely be changed, until after the period of school examinations ends, to spare the city further tension.
Addressing the issue of the Friday deadline, Sousan said: “I have briefed my brother, Sheikh Ahmad, on the situation and left things to his assessment.”
The sources said that Assir was likely to address the issue during his Friday sermon.

Before we get to the truly momentous event of our time – the naming of the child of Kim Kardasian and Kanye West – I want to note with sadness the passing of actor James Gandolfini at the age of 51.
Gandolfini, star of the hit HBO series The Sopranos, died in Rome reportedly of a massive heart attack. I never met the guy, of course, but nonetheless, I harbored a vicarious identification with him due to my own Italian forbears. In a very minor way, I felt we were “paisan.”
A physically imposing man, Gandolfini was also a man of large appetites. I was not surprised to learn that his last meal consisted of two orders of fried king prawns, accompanied by a large portion of foie gras, a particularly rich goose liver pate’. Whether a diet like that contributed to his untimely death remains to be seen, but it can’t have helped.
To complicate the picture, his last meal was washed down with two pina coladas, with four shots of rum on the side and two beers.
I can almost feel my own arteries hardening in sympathy.
Apparently, Gandolfini was challenged by alcohol, and that’s always an ordeal. Reports are that he made an attempt at Alcoholics Anonymous, but never took it seriously.
I think that is a common occurence. Years ago, I had a reporter who admitted she was battling alcoholism. “It’s really not a big struggle,” she once said. “I usually don’t put up much of a fight.”
When I suggested she find a sponsor and join AA, she thought for moment, then said brightly “I wonder if I can get the Budweiser distributor to sponsor me.”
I’ve always wondered if the propensity of some people to abuse alcohol is the same factor that makes them so darn engaging and endearing.
Anyway, to James Gandolfini – “Salut.”
And now, back to what’s really important in life – the name for the daughter of Kim Kardasian and Kanye West. For some time, the speculation was that the baby’s name would begin with K, due to prevalence of that letter in the parents’ names. Early betting was on Kaidence, as in cadence with a K.
Ah, but that was without reckoning with the outsized ego of the father. The baby’s name on the birth certificate is – wait for it – North. As in North West.
No explanation at this hour of the rationale behind the selection. Why not South, or Mid? What’s wrong with Way Out, Sun Sets In The or Young Man Go?
As we should know by now, there’s no accounting for the taste – or common sense – of a celebrity. We learned that early on with the introduction to the children of musician Frank Zappa, namely Moon Unit, Dweezil and Ahmet, and the latest addition to the menagerie, Diva Thin Muffin Pigeen Zappa.
Pop singer Beyonce got in her licks with her child’s name – Blue Ivy. The Ivy comes from the diva’s fascination with the number four. Ivy equals IV equals four. Get it?
Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale named their baby Zuma Nesta Rock, for some reason, and magician Penn Jillette and Emily Zoltan were not to be outdone with their selection of Moxie Crimefighter.
Compared to them, the name Bob Geldorg and Paula Yates chose seems almost quaint – Fifi Trixibelle.
But for pure, wretched excess, I think the crown goes to actress Uma Thurman and her daughter (deep breath) Rosalind Arusha Arkadina Altalune Florence Busson. Just call her Luna.
Hardest hit by these names, of course are the defenseless children whose burden it will be to carry those names into adulthood, when they can legally rename themselves Joe and Mary.
My fear is the equal and opposite force that may be at work in some of these selections. I can just imagine the daughter of Dancing With The Stars host Brooke Burke Chervet – the sweet and tender Heaven Rain – growing up to be history’s bloodiest axe murderer.
My personal favorite baby’s name cropped up several years and remains unchallenged for ingenuity – Absorbine Jr.

It’s 5:55am and I’m turning over to start the day. I stumble to the bathroom and begin to prepare myself for what may come. I used to dread those first 15 minutes. In the blink of an eye, those 15 minutes told me whether or not the day was going to be “good” or “bad.” To be honest, some mornings those thoughts are still present; but I’m finding that the difference now is the fact that I have a something to think about: it doesn't matter what reflection I see in the mirror today because it’s the same as it was yesterday. I've been experiencing the world with this reflection my entire life and those first 15 minutes are just a starting point, not a deal-breaker. I don’t, and you certainly don't, have to linger with subjective perceptions. If you struggle with this, I think it’s time for an objective-upgrade.
When you wake in the morning and finish splashing your face to wake; what is the first thing you look for and/or say? “Damn, I am really looking great today!” Or, “Wow, I’m ready to roll!” Doubtful. But if you are one of the few, and I mean FEW where this is your reality, awesome!
However, for the thousands, and maybe millions of us that aren’t blessed with that way of constant positive thinking, I have to ask you this: Do you immediately view what makes you unique, exceptional or incomparable? Probably not. We look for the flaws, faults, mistakes, negatives and things we want to fix or change. We never look at ourselves in appreciation for the extraordinarily perfect work that God has done. Instead, we look for how WE want to “tweak” His incredible artwork.
The reality of the mirror is that we don't really perceive ourselves or the physical as they are; we're only seeing our version of reality, not what's really there. Objectively examining ourselves is quickly brushed aside in our society. We have to look like this person, that person or have a certain quality to be deemed “okay.”
My generation has often been referred to as, “Generation Me.” While I completely agree that taking care of self first, fame and fortune is highly stressed; I completely see it as a self-fulfilling prophecy of a self-centered culture. When we look at television, we are told by a variety of shows that if we walk, talk, dress, emulate or sculpt ourselves to the likings of the characters; we, too, can have our 15 minutes of fame. The end result? When we receive negative feedback from our peers, or that body shape or attempt to copy fails, we hold to and believe that we are not worthy and believe the subjective rather than the objective in our lives.
Our perceptions are tinted by our life experiences. For example, if your family and your experiences are “picture perfect”, you may be viewing your surroundings through "picture perfect glasses". We're all diverse according to how our experiences have formed us and our intelligence makes meaning out of all we experience. When your self-image is whole, you feel good and are safe in your thoughts. When something takes place in your life that emotionally leaves a mark, you can become self-doubting. If you've been abused or hurt, condemned, or teased, you may suffer the impact of that emotional pain, and feel shame, ultimately masking your true reflection. If you're trapped in a subjective reflection, hating some part of you, it's because you think that you are that negative, disgusting, unworthy, fat, ugly, stupid or unable reflection. Nothing could be farther from the truth!
Unless you are able to see yourself in the objective and in a positive light, no diet, no work out and no amount of reassurance will make you believe something you haven’t truly grasped hold of. In order to change the subjective and unconstructive core beliefs that limit you, and feel different about your body, you have to transform the reflection that you have inside of you. The good news is that this self image or your reflection is entirely impersonal. If you don't like the physical or what you see in the mirror every morning, try to view your opinions and reflection in a new light.
When you uncover the positive and objective view of yourself, your true spark may only burn minutely at first; but the opportunity for that spark to grow into a raging fire is ever-present. In comparison to a tiny seed: the seed of your life, who you really are, who you’re about to grow into and who you have always been, is now brave enough to break the surface for the first time.
It takes courage, time and commitment. You'll continuously face society's standards, critical opinions and your old subjective views. For us to be ourselves, we don't need anything. We just need to be alive and breathing. We need absolutely nothing for us to be ourselves. So you and I can be ourselves without any precepts. If we first needed something to be ourselves, then is that something anything other than saying, "If I emulate this star or have a perfect, hot body, then I’ll be okay and who I’m supposed to be?" Bull. You don't need anything outside of you to be yourself, ever.
I hope you can stop and evaluate your thought process and; develop tools to see why you might be at the point of questioning your true reflection; determine what is really important in your life right now and truly, positively and objectively, uncovering yourself and your true reflection.

(FM97 News / AP) — The chief executive officer of Hawaii Health Systems Corporation says it's going to cost more than expected to convert medical records to an electronic system. Bruce Anderson tells the Star-Advertiser that the cost to convert records at Hawaii's 14 public hospitals likely will surpass $100 million dollars. The cost was first estimated at $58 million dollars over five years and revised upward at the end of last year to more than $75 million. Anderson says consultants underestimated staff time needed to maintain the system, started Jan. 1 at Kona Community Hospital. Anderson says no one had thoroughly assessed HHSC facilities and some are 50 to 100 years old. He says entire information technology services are being upgraded in the hospitals. The corporation will seek additional money from the Hawaii Legislature.

Daily activities have kept me too busy, not allowing me writing scriptures from the Bible for the Late Reverend Doctor Martin Luther King Junior and his wife The Late Mrs. Coretta Scott King.
The Current Event I want to discuss in my writing today is about Other Worlds outside of our Solar System which contains the known common popular Planets from Mercury to Pluto.
Saturday Story Featured In News and Observer April 27, 2013. Headline: Worlds Away From Here By Ross Douthat.
The first sentence of this article directly states: And now for some counterprogramming. During the days and weeks when every household television in the United States was tuned at The Boston Marathon bombing, America discovered Another World last week. This was the week of Sunday April 14, 2013, to Saturday April 20, 2013. Two Worlds actually. Our planet Earth is smaller than these two planets. They circle a star 1,200 light years away. This star was given the unromantic name of Keplar 62.
Astronomers have discovered other planets similar to Earth way before now. However, are these planets great candidates to have water on them??? Plus the planet size and position mean the chance of some form of life is possible.
So since scientists are finding more and more planets. Their question is where are all the Earth-like civilizations???

The Fermi paradox is the name of this mystery. In 1950, Physicist Enrico Fermi raised this question. Mr. Fermi hypothesis concluded that our Sun is a relatively young star. He said the number of other Suns rank in the billions. And that they are billions of years older. If a fraction of those planets like ours have human-level intelligence, the number of civilizations could be large enough to over-crowd our galaxy.
So Mr. Enrico Fermi asked where is everybody??? And the answer was a vast amount. Two categories that all those answers can fall into are: 1. " Life and consciousness are perhaps 1. mysterious enough, 2. rare enough, 3. impossible enough, that even multiplying Earth-like worlds a billion times over would not necessarily produce either one again. Or 2. by contrast limited attempts at explanation are as far as it gets 2. It is just by distance between the stars. Current attempts to find other life-forms of flesh and blood have failed.
The late, Mr. Blaise Pascal was a great philosopher. He was also a Christian. Mr. Pascal wrote the large amount of space that has no sound fills him with dread. Religious believers have a difficult time critiquing answers to that its possible that the Universe might be as empty as it is enormous in size makes humans on Earth confused about what God had in mind. Simultaneously, the thought of extraterrestrial life has religious believers inspired to Discover other Worlds.
This story will be continued in a few days. Hopefully, answering the following question: What if the Solar System cannot be populated???

Why do people feel the need to vilify others who have a past in any sort of sex industry? Why do people feel the need to deny the fact that the world's oldest profession is part of society? I think many of the issues we have in this country stem from refusal to accept others and it's ridiculous.
Love your fellow man, accept their past and form your opinions based on who they are now, not who they were. If you can do this your stress levels will decrease and you'll find life much more pleasant.

The phrase, 'It was a dark and stormy night' was originally an example of a badly written cliché. Now 'dark and stormy' is an expression mostly used to describe a drink made with Gosling's rum and ginger beer.
While I confess drinking several during the just completed Marion to Bermuda Race for Cruising Sailboats, actual dark and stormy nights at sea were in short supply during the 660 mile race. Which was too bad because my old sailboat Voyager, at 52 tons and made of half inch thick aluminum, thrives in bad weather; the darker and stormier the better.
A post race analysis of GPS tracking shows Voyager closing to 2nd place during the blustery weather Sunday and Monday, only to fade and wallow near the end during Tuesday's calm to cross the finish line 12th in the fleet of 34 boats.
For me, the real storm started on shore Wednesday night long after Voyager was safely docked at the lovely Royal Hamilton Amateur Dinghy Club (RHADC).

Family seeks answers in death near home of Patriots' star tight end - BOSTON (AP) — Family members of the man found slain a mile from New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez's house said Friday they are looking for answers about what happened the night he died. Police have searched in and around Hernandez's sprawling home in North Attleborough, not far from where the Patriots practice. The Bristol County District Attorney has not released any information, other than saying the death of 27-year-old Odin Lloyd is being treated as a homicide. Meanwhile, ABC News is reportimg that an arrest warrant for Hernandez is being drawn up on obstruction of justice charges based on the possible destruction of evidence. A jogger found Lloyd's body in an industrial park Monday. Family members said Friday that Lloyd was dating the sister of Hernandez's girlfriend and the two men were friends who were together at some point the night that Lloyd died. Family members have said Lloyd, a semi-pro football player, was never in trouble and that many things are puzzling about the case. But they also said Friday that they can see progress in the investigation. "I want the person that killed my son to be brought to justice," said Lloyd's mother, Ursula Ward. "That's my first-born child, my only boy child, and they took him away from me. ... I wouldn't trade him for all the money in the world. And if money could bring him back I would give this house up to bring my son back. Nothing can bring my son back." Hernandez attorney Michael Fee has acknowledged media reports about the state police search of his client's home but says he wouldn't have any comment on it. Mark E. Sturdy, clerk magistrate of Attleboro District Court, said three search warrants were issued in the investigation earlier in the week, but they have not yet been returned, meaning they're not public. He said no arrest warrants had been filed in state courts as of Friday morning. Media have been camped out for several days at Hernandez's home, near the Rhode Island state line. A news helicopter followed along Thursday as Hernandez drove in a white SUV from his home to the Patriots' stadium, then got out and went inside. Patriots spokesman Stacey James said the team had no comment on why Hernandez was there. He said earlier that the team did not anticipate commenting publicly during the police investigation. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell is waiting for the legal process to take its course. The Patriots drafted Hernandez out of Florida in 2010. Since then, he has combined with Rob Gronkowski to form one of the top tight end duos in the NFL. He missed 10 games last season with an ankle injury and had shoulder surgery in April but is expected to be ready for training camp. Last summer, the Patriots gave him a five-year contract worth $40 million. Hernandez said after he was drafted that he had failed a drug test while with the Gators and had been upfront with NFL teams about the issue. Earlier this week, a 30-year-old man filed a lawsuit in South Florida claiming Hernandez shot him in the face after they argued at a strip club. Alexander Bradley's lawsuit accuses Hernandez of negligence, among other things, suggesting that the shooting may have been accidental. Bradley said he lost his right eye and suffers many other lingering effects from the shooting. Teri Barbera, a spokeswoman for the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, said Friday that investigators would need to speak directly with Bradley in order to move forward with a criminal investigation and cannot rely on the claims he made in his lawsuit. She said Bradley repeatedly refused to cooperate in the criminal probe after he was shot in February, telling detectives he didn't know who shot him. "If he contacts us, we would move forward with the investigation," Barbera said. "He needs to reach out to us and he has not done so." Hernandez's attorney did not respond to a request for comment on the lawsuit.

A bit of a genre-mix, part international espionage thriller and part crime mystery, Moonlight Shadows features interesting and well-drawn characters, exciting bursts of action, multiple storylines, and more than a few well-placed plot twists.
I enjoyed it immensely.
The reader is swept up into a world of international intrigue in Japan and Amsterdam as well as common-sense policing in London and the English seaside town of Crillsea. The plots come together soon enough, and along the way the reader gets to spend plenty of time with Detective Chief Inspector Davies King, newly promoted but saddled with a green and ambitious “political” type. Joining the chess-playing Davies are most of the wonderful cast of characters introduced in The Conchenta Conundrum including the proper and ultra-efficient office manager Claudia, who is — as everyone who works there knows — the glue that keeps the Crillsea “nick” running, as well as Archie, a Crillsea fixture not afraid to add a pint or two to the tab of DCI King. Other returning notables include larger-than-life Detective Chief Superintendent “Big Al” Jessop, Detective Sergeant Ted “Barney” Barnes — whose days in the Royal Ulster Constabulary (RUC) prove very useful — and Detective Inspector Annie Rock, who I hope Mr. Anthony finds a larger role for in the future as her confidence and competence made her a favorite of mine. The new faces to the mix include a stone-cold Irish killer and plenty of shadowy intelligence types more accustomed to lying than telling the truth.
Those familiar with Mr. Anthony’s biography, which includes stints as a detective in local, regional and national police agencies in the United Kingdom, including the Special Branch (now known as Counter Terrorism Command, will take special interest in the “behind the scenes” aspect of this story. There is a sense of utter authenticity to the proceedings; no extra drama needed.
Finally, as I’ve noted before I’m an Anglophile so the settings and dialogue were just the icing on a very tasty and satisfying treat of a story.

If you're a fan of the PBS series "Mystery" then "The Conchenta Conundrum" by Paul Anthony is a must-read. Even if you're not, buy this book: I enjoyed it immensely. I'm partial to the TV show "Foyle's War" myself, and this book has many of the same elements I love in that show. Several parallel stories involving murder, larceny, politics, organized crime and high finance that intersect in surprising and delightful ways. A thoughtful, engaging protagonist in Inspector Davies King who is dedicated to solving crimes by using his intelligence, wits and experience -- but who is also not afraid to throw a punch or come up with a shortcut to the truth. A great "supporting cast" of unique and well-drawn characters on both sides of the law. And the language! I admit to being a bit of an Anglophile, so reading about having matters "sorted" among other English terms made the story that much more enjoyable to me. Mr. Anthony’s other titles have moved directly to my list of future reads, and I highly recommend "The Conchenta Conundrum" to anyone looking for a an intelligent, well-written and fun-to-read mystery.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading `Bushfire', another of Paul Anthony's books, so my expectations of `Conchenta Conundrum' were extremely high. I was not disappointed. 'Conchenta Conundrum' held me from the very first page, keeping me engaged to the last. The pace of this exciting book is fast and gives the reader a real appreciation of what the police force do behind the scenes during an investigation. The story centres around several cases on which the principal character, Davies King, and his team are working that include two murders and a series of robberies at jewellers in their jurisdiction. Apart from the criminal cases, there are other plots running through the story concerning the careers of Davies, his friends and his colleagues. I really related to and empathised with the characters as they are involved in the politics and the management mind games in the organisation. Inevitably the reader supports Davies in his efforts to protect his team by manipulating events and people to his team's advantage. The `Conchenta Conundrum' gave me an insight into the working life of a policeman. Additionally, I learnt that, like all careers, there are those in the police force that work with, and for the team, and those that concentrate on developing their own careers and advancement at the expense of others. I rate this book very highly and recommend it to all.

Victorious Roman legions, fierce ancient Scots, British and Israeli Intelligence, terrorists camps in Lebanon, undercover police officers, drug dealers, fishermen - you get to meet them all, while the action never slacks, never let you relax and pause for breath. You finish this story breathless, unable to let the book go before you know how it ends. This novel is very well written and deeply satisfying. It analyzes all aspects of human nature, never turning to the easy solution of the good and the bad. The multiple points of view are astounding. Every angle of the unfolding story fascinates you with its different points of view, which exploring the inner worlds of various people of various cultures. The depth of the historical research is amazing and reminds us that life was brutal and cheap through all times, the modern days included.

I began reading The Legacy of the Ninth thinking that it was a story of the Roman Empire, but was not disappointed when it morphed into present day England where an artifact carried there from the Middle East by the Ninth Legion is uncovered. Its discovery becomes the catalyst for a new battle in the continuing conflict between Arabs and Jews. Paul Anthony populated this story with a host of three-dimensional characters engaged in the conflict from different venues, England, Istanbul, Lebanon, and Israel. One in particular, a British policeman reassigned from undercover work in London to leading Bobbies in Cumbria, faces the daunting task of reigniting pride in a group that has been allowed to languish in mediocrity. This challenge alone would be sufficient foundation for a good story. In The Legacy of the Ninth, it is but one facet of a complex tale with plots within plots. Lastly, I was pleased with the author's style. Thank God, I read it on Kindle and had a copy of the Oxford Dictionary built in to help me with the language (I am American and don't speak English). That aside, Paul Anthony varies his pace, lingering on details to establish the milieu, and racing ahead with action to make it exciting. Yes, I can recommend this one without reservation.

I could not put the book down. It was fast and moving. Even in the midst of the mayhem that this story produced, Paul Anthony managed to use pleasing language to describe the surroundings. I found this an amazingly well written book. The author really did his research on the drug organization and the Justice system. Mr Anthony is a brilliant writer. The book just flowed when reading it.Bushfire is a fast paced, on the edge of your set book. I had a hard time putting it down. Need to know what was going to happen next. I feel in love with the main character of the book. The characters seemed so real that you felt you where there with them. You wanted to try and help at times. I'm hoping to see more of the main character in books to come. Just could not help liking him. I love thriller books and this was sure one thriller with a lot of twists and turns. I would recommend this book. Need to keep an eye on this author. He is going to go places with his writing.

This gripping thriller puts a human face on Irish "Troubles". "The Fragile Peace" by Paul Anthony is an excellent read, and one I highly recommend. Don't worry if you don't know the background going in: "The Fragile Peace" isn't a history lesson or alphabet soup of group names. There is a very human face put on the "Troubles" in the form of Liam Connelly, a Provo soldier, and Detective Inspector Billy Boyd, two men who find themselves on opposite ends of the battle but connected by their love of someone else. Beginning in 1970, the early parts of the book, probably to the halfway point, set the stage for the exciting conclusion in 1995 after a tenuous ceasefire -- a temporary halt to the violence that factions on both sides distrust -- was put in place. I won't spoil the finale with too many details, but it is gripping and I stayed up into the early hours this very morning to finish it.Early glimpses of the development of Liam and Billy are seen in vignette, at critical crossroads on their way to finally meeting. Some may find this jumping around in time a bit confusing, but for me it felt just right; the key players are introduced and the missing pieces of information are provided in a very natural way. The motivations of players on both sides of the conflict are muddied; while the "soldiers" of Active Service Units believe they are serving a great cause many Provo leaders earn big money running drug and protection rackets. In a similar way, some RUC and British police fight based on strongly held beliefs of right and wrong while others let ambition and ego color their actions. The authenticity and sure-handedness of the tale are no surprise given Paul Anthony's resume: "Working as a detective, he served in the CID, the Regional Crime Squad in Manchester, the Special Branch, and other national agencies in the UK."

The Inside Story of "The Troubles", The Fragile Peace is an important book if you have any interest at all in the war between the Catholics, Protestants and the British Government in Northern Ireland. The setting of the story is from 1969 to 1995. As the reader, you not given a tutorial of the war, you are dragged into the middle of it. You are the IRA man, the RUC patrol, the informer, the British intelligence agent, the anti-terrorist detective and the victim. It is quite evident that the author, Paul Anthony, lived this story in his former life as a member of a Scotland Yard anti-terrorist team. It is a work of fiction, but the book is so vivid and realistic there can be no other explanation. The way the book written makes the reader feel like a part of the story. I highly recommend the book. I read the original edition and I understand it has been rewritten because Paul Anthony has learned much about writing since he first wrote The Fragile Peace. As a writer, I did see some technical flaws in the first edition, but the story is so powerful, it is easy to overlook those flaws.
Read it. You will not be disappointed.

"The Fragile Peace" is an excellent read. I remember the times recalled by the author very well and anyone reading the book will come to realise the traumas borne in the "troubles" which are still in living memory and therefore, not all that long ago.
The characters are believable and are brought to life by some very descriptive writing.
An excellent novel with a thrilling climax. Storytelling at its best.

Yang Hyun Suk farà debuttare 2 nuovi gruppi maschili + gara di sopravvivenza sul programma "Win"
Yang Hyun Suk ha nuovamente risposto ad alcune domande sul blog della YG-Life, questa volta riguardanti due nuovi gruppi maschili.
- Una breve introduzione del nuovo gruppo maschile della YG?
Ci sono due nuovi gruppi maschili in preparazione alla YG Entertainement e dato che non abbiamo un nome ufficiale per loro, li chiameremo per ora Gruppo A e Gruppo B.
Il Gruppo A è formato da 5 membri la cui età è in media 20 anni. Due dei membri del gruppo sono Kang Seung Yoon, la cui data del debutto da solista è stata appena confermata, e l'ex partecipante di "K-pop Star", Lee Seung-Hoon.
Il Gruppo B invece è più giovane, formato da 6 membri dall'età in media di 17 anni. Il rapper, B.I., che è apparso su "Indian Boy", nel 2009 è stato selezionato come leader del gruppo nonostante avesse solo 14 anni. Quest'anno compirà 17 anni.
- Tra il Gruppo A e il Gruppo B, chi debutterà per primo?
Dopo molte considerazioni, abbiamo deciso di far debuttare uno dei due gruppi quest'anno. Lascerò il resto in mano al pubblico per vedere come andranno i piani. Per questo, abbiamo girato un programma chiamato "Real Survival" giorno e notte. Mostrerà le scene di una feroce battaglia tra il Gruppo A e il Gruppo B. Il nome ufficiale di questo programma è "Win", che sta a indicare la iniziale frase di promozione della YG, ovvero "Who Is Next".
La struttura sarà la seguente: il gruppo che guadagnerà più voti dai spettatori potrà debuttare subito dopo la fine del programma. Il gruppo perdente invece potrà subire dei cambiamenti nei membri o sciogliersi. Niente sarà prevedibile.
Il gruppo vincitore di "Win" prenderà il nome di Winner. Questo programma verrà mandato in onda con un episodio a settimana, per un totale di 10 episodi a partire dalla seconda settimana di luglio. Winner debutteranno il giorno dopo la fine del 10° episodio. Il programma potrebbe sembrare rigido, ma questa è una competizione che gli artisti professionisti non posso evitare. "Win" ritrarrà la realtà nella maniera più trasparente possibile.
- Quanto verrà influenzato Kang Seung Yoon, che ha già una data di debutto, da "Win"?
Ho potuto osservare Kang Seung Yoon preparare il suo debutto intensamente per gli ultimi 3 anni. Per tagliare corto, penso semplicemente che lui sia "nato per essere una celebrità". È che ha solo ricevuto tanto talento.
Quindi rientrava nei miei piani farlo diventare un multiplayer, in grado di giostrarsi tra le attività da solista e di gruppo. Kang Seung Yoon si è preparato insieme agli altri membri del Gruppo A per gli ultimi 3 anni. Mentre il suo album da solista si propone di mostrare un sentimento analogo che lui stesso possiede, la sua partecipazione nel Gruppo A avrà lo scopo di mostrare una più ampia varietà di generi.
Riuscite a immaginare Kang Seung Yoon ballare? Riuscite a immaginare Kang Seung Yoon cantare con altri membri di un gruppo che ballano un forte ritmo hip hop?
Se non riuscite, tutto questo sarà mostrato attraverso il programma "Win" a partire da luglio. Credo personalmente che Kang Seung Yoon è pronto per spiccare il volo dopo 3 anni di preparazione alla YG Entertainment sin dalla giovane età di 17 anni.
Se il Gruppo A vincerà "Win" lui proseguirà sia con le attività da solista che quelle di gruppo, se invece dovesse vincere il Gruppo B Kang Seung Yoon lavorerà unicamente al suo album solista.
