The third most expensive petrol in the world is that of Colombia, and the cheapest is the one of Venezuela ".

The fee of 10 bolivars per liter is equivalent to 150% increase in price.

The announcement comes amid a shutdown of both gasoline sales in the five international stations (called Safec) in San Antonio del Táchira and Ureña, in Tachira state, as the export of fuel to the Norte de Santander Colombia, with no official explanation of the action is in effect from May 30.

"To fight crime, you should take advantage of satellite Simon Bolivar and Francisco de Miranda, in order to have cameras, video, GPS, light controls and controls vision," he said.

The purpose of the governor is to harness the electronic tools "because people get tired and often corrupt because they offer enough money to pass contraband to the Republic of Colombia".

Vielma Mora indicated that the entity border tachirense many rivers to facilitate the smuggling of products to the Colombian territory. "There are over 100 trails, which take off and are put back by smugglers. It is a very strong theme in the border, "he said.

However, the decision not to fill Safec fuel pumps has not diminished the sale of gasoline in Cucuta pimpinas. Furthermore the closing has caused the remaining pumps entity has a significant increase in the volume of vehicles, affecting even stocks.

Mari Carmen Garcia set fire to the man found guilty of raping her youngest daughter in 1998 when she was 13 years old.

The man, identified only as Antonio C.V, had been sentenced to nine years for the crime but was on day release from prison in June 2005 when he approached his victim's mother at a bus stop near her home in Benjuzar, near Alicante, on Spain's Costa Blanca.
When he asked after her daughter, Mrs Garcia became so enraged she went and fetched a bottle of petrol, doused him with fuel and then set him alight. He died in hospital from the burns several days later.

Her case won her sympathy across Spain but a judge sentenced her to nine and a half years in jail, a sentence that was reduced to five years on appeal to the Supreme Court.

The court this week agreed to suspend her sentence pending an application for an official pardon for her crime after a petition bearing 5,000 signatures was handed to judicial authorities in her support. She had served a total of one year and ten days in prison

GIRLS BEWARE, SHINE YOUR EYES AND DONT UNDERATE ANY SITUATION THAT YOU MIGHT NOT LIVE TO REGRET: on June 5th 2013, a young girl by name P boarded a public volkswagen bus popularly called Fedeco at Iyana Orile bus stop in Orile Agege LCDA at about 8pm when the rains was falling. The bus had only the driver as occupant and she flagged down the bus as a iyana ipaja bound bus.The driver stopped and picked her enroute Iyana ipaja as the only passenger with the driver. On getting to Mobil petrol station on Old Ipaja road just before the Lagos state exams board office, beside NYSC camp, the driver realising that traffic had built up from Iyana Ipaja under bridge, appealed to the only passenger by name P that he wont be able to go straight on because of the traffic and implored her to remain calm while he navigate some street roads via Orile Agege LCDA office at Arigbanla to come out close to Iyana Ipaja via Aboru junction. Somehow he navigated this streets to the extent that the lady complained that she is afraid because she doesnt understand where they are going again and begged to come down but the driver reassured her that they will soon approach the expressway where she will disembark. Fortunately or unfortunately, the driver stopped in a dark corner of a street by telling the lady he wants to pick up something only to come down from the driver seat and enter the vehicle through the passengers door behind the driver's opposite seat in which the girl was sitting. He then grabbed the girl's respiratory organs from behind and started choking her and while she was putting up resistance, he also applied pressure by hitting her face, head and nose with the wheel spanner through which the lady in question sustained serious cuts across the face and head. He also tried using knife to slice her throat and cut off her nipples and in the process, the girl's resistance subsided and on realising that he had weakened his victim he released his grip on her throat to come down and mount the drivers seat to take her away for the final onslaught. But when the ritualist by name Taiwo Balogun attempted to start the vehicle, it refused to start, there and then the girl regained some strenght and pushed open the bus door and screamed for help. Her shout attracted people in the neighbourhood because by now the rain was subsiding around 9pm and before the residents came close to the vehicle, the driver escaped because the whole place was dark due to power failure. There and then, the residents helped her by applying first aid and deflated the 4 tyres of the bus.She was now helped across the road to take a bus home to Ipaja. Fortunately for her, she boarded a vehicle in which she saw an acquaintance who now took her to the police team at iyana Ipaja underbridge who then radioed Elere police station who came and took the girl to the scene of the crime in the night. Because of her level of injuries, the police at Elere now took her to an hospital for treatment because she was still bleeding. The relation who was with her when they reported to the police, now removed the vehicles plate number. At about 1am when the driver/ritualist Mr. Taiwo Balogun came to retrieve the bus, he met all the four tyres deflated and the plate numbers removed and also another car had collided with it and pushed it into a ditch. The owner of the vehicle who collidede with it now engaged mr Taiwo Balogun in a heated argument which warranted them calling a towing van to remove the vehicle from the ditch, but before doing that, the towing van driver now called the police to intimate them of which the police told them to hold on while they come to inspect the accident. It was in this process, that the police picked up all the persons at the scene of the accident and when they did an identification parade, Miss Precious identified Mr. Taiwo Balogun as her attacker. I must commend the DCO, DPO of Elere police station for exemplary conduct that is a thing of joy and pride to the NPF. The suspect is now in Panti undergoing interrogation. I have the phone numbers of the DPO and the victim and also took some shots of the victim on the hospital bed. Please help spread this information so that justice is done in this case.

Police from the North Manchester Neighbourhood Policing Team are appealing for witnesses after two males were robbed in Harpurhey.

In the early hours of this morning, Friday 14th June, two males were victims of carjacking whilst driving along Rochdale Road in the direction of Rochdale.

At around 3.55am, the males were driving along Rochdale Road in a red Vauxhall Astra, at a slow speed, looking for a petrol station. The driver noticed two apparently intoxicated males in the road and was unable to manoeuvre around them, bringing his car to a stop. One of the men, described as black, around 5ft10-11 of slim build with brown eyes, approximately 20-21 years of age who was clean shaven and wearing black tracksuit bottoms, a hoody and a red baseball cap, approached the driver’s window and struck him once to the right cheek before producing a hammer. He told the driver to get out of the car.

The other man continued to block in the vehicle and was carrying a knife in his hand. The first male got into the driver’s seat and the second man removed the passenger from the front seat of the vehicle. The first male then drove the vehicle away, along Rochdale Road in the direction of Rochdale. The second male returned to a white car, which is thought to possibly be a Honda or Fiat which was parked on Beech Mount and left the scene in the same direction, leaving the knife he was carrying at the scene.

The second male is described as white, approximately 5ft6 around 23 years old of slim build and clean shaven with shaved brown hair. He was wearing casual clothes.

Revealed: Yengeni's R6-million 'kickback' agreement

14 Jun 2013 00:00 Stefaans Brümmer Mail &Guardian

A raid on a German company has revealed a record of a deal signed by ANC heavyweight Tony Yengeni when he headed Parliament's defence committee.
ANC luminary Tony Yengeni signed a R6-million bribe agreement with an arms bidder when he headed Parliament's joint standing committee on defence in 1995, ¬German detectives have reported.

The detectives said that they found a copy of the agreement when they raided ThyssenKrupp, the German engineering conglomerate which led the consortium that sold four patrol corvettes to South Africa for R6.9-billion.
Yengeni, a struggle stalwart and member of the ANC's national executive committee, this week refused to confirm or deny the allegation. "I've got nothing to say on all you're ¬saying," he said.

The latest allegation significantly adds to evidence that the main contracts in the controversial arms deal were tainted by corruption, contradicting a 2001 finding by the multi-agency joint investigation team that subcontracts, at most, were affected.
Bribery is grounds for cancelling the multibillion-rand contracts for trainer and fighter jets, corvettes, submarines and helicopters that the government entered into at the turn of the century.

The government, perhaps fearful of the international repercussions, has resisted such a conclusion. But Judge Willie Seriti's arms procurement commission, which starts public hearings in August, will face a barrage of new evidence to that effect.
The Mail & Guardian has previously revealed how British multinational BAE Systems, which supplied the jets, paid roughly R200-million to Fana Hlongwane, who was the late defence minister Joe Modise's adviser when the arms deal was negotiated.
It has also reported how Thyssen ¬allegedly reached a $3-million (about R18-million then) bribe agreement with Chippy Shaik, then head of defence procurement.
Last month the Sunday Times alleged that BAE bankrolled the late Stella Sigcau's daughter when she studied in London. Sigcau, then public enterprises minister, served on the Cabinet subcommittee that made key arms procurement decisions.
The new allegations are unrelated to Yengeni's fraudulent cover-up of a discount he received on a luxury vehicle from another arms bidder, for which he was briefly jailed in 2006.

Raids and a find

German investigators raided ThyssenKrupp's Düsseldorf headquarters in 2006 after tax authorities became suspicious of payments made in the course of the South African arms deal.

AmaBhungane has seen correspondence in which detectives involved in the investigation discuss some of the evidence found.
Among the gems in the haul was an agreement allegedly signed by Yengeni and

Christoph Hoenings, an executive of Thyssen Rheinstahl Technik, a ThyssenKrupp predecessor company.

Hoenings was a key protagonist in the Thyssen-led German Frigate Consortium's campaign to sell the corvettes to South Africa.

Allegedly concluded when Hoenings visited South Africa in September 1995, the agreement promised Yengeni 2.5-million deutschmark (R6-million then) on conclusion of the campaign to sell the corvettes to South Africa.
Hoenings, who has since left Thyssen, this week refused to comment, saying from Düsseldorf: "I do not speak to the press, please understand this, thank you."

Men of influence

Hoenings's online profile on business networking website Xing.com, however, is unabashed about his use of political connectivity to land contracts.
It says he offers "years of experience as a sales director for exports in shipbuilding/marine", "strong contacts with political parties and well-connected individuals in a number of developing and emerging countries", and "creativity in the development of marketing strategies for obtaining foreign government contracts".
The profile offers the "use of my personal network by interested third parties" – perhaps not unlike Yengeni, whose LinkedIn profile describes him as an "independent government relations professional".

During the South African corvette campaign, Hoenings worked closely with Tony Georgiadis, the London-based shipping magnate who made a seamless transition from supplying apartheid South Africa with embargo-busting crude oil to being best friends with the top echelons of former president Thabo Mbeki's ANC.
Georgiadis appears to have been brought aboard as an agent by the Germans after Christmas Eve 1994, when all seemed lost. That day, Armscor, the state arms procurement agency, had announced the shortlisting of shipyards from Spain and Britain to supply corvettes, eliminating bids from Germany, Denmark and France.
But Thabo Mbeki, then deputy president, travelled to Germany the next month, allegedly to reassure officials.
Hoenings himself was quoted in the Weekend Argus as saying that Mbeki had told him and the German foreign minister that "the race is still open to all contenders".
In May 1995, Cabinet put a hold on the corvette acquisition pending a "defence review", among other things to determine the ideal force design of the post-apartheid defence force.
The corvette tender process was started afresh in late 1997 as part of a comprehensive "strategic defence procurement" of jets, ships, ¬submarines and helicopters.
Enter Yengeni
Yengeni was well placed to assist the Germans during this precarious time when the South Africans were reconsidering their needs.
In Parliament, he was ANC chief whip and chair of the joint standing committee on defence. He also later served on the defence review, held under the auspices of the department of defence.
Yengeni allegedly signed the agreement with Hoenings on September 11 1995. The German detectives' correspondence details some corroborating evidence.
Hoenings' travel claims, they said, showed him meeting Yengeni and Georgiadis in South Africa on the day the agreement was allegedly signed.
After his return to Germany, Hoenings entered a provision for the 2.5-million deutschmark in Thyssen Rheinstahl accounts.
At the time, foreign bribery was not illegal in Germany. It was, in fact, tax-deductible, meaning there was no need to disguise such actions internally.
The provision was removed when Thyssen Rheinstahl and Krupp merged two years later and investigators found no indication in the accounts that the money was paid.
The detectives thought it likely, however, that Yengeni ultimately received the money by indirect means.
Switzerland
Certainly, the contact continued as the defence review unfolded. Hoenings's travel claims specified another four sets of meetings in 1996 and 1997 involving him, Yengeni and Georgiadis.
One set of meetings was in Germany and two were in Switzerland the final one in Zurich in November 1997, two months after the corvette tender, ultimately won by the Germans, was reopened.
Also found, the detectives said, was a claim by Georgiadis for the air fare for Yengeni's first visit to Zurich. Georgiadis allegedly faxed Hoenings the travel agent's invoice, with the note: "The attached for your 'confidential' file (in case he [Yengeni] ever denies having come)."
Georgiadis said this week: "I really, really have no comment whatsoever to make on anything regarding that, okay … I know nothing about it [the bribe agreement]."
German authorities abandoned their investigation of Thyssen in 2008, apparently after reaching a tax settlement. They did not prosecute corruption, in part because it was difficult to prove that any of Thyssen's actions continued after foreign ¬bribery was outlawed.
A ThyssenKrupp spokesperson said on Thursday: "The issues related to your request were duly investigated by German authorities. These investigations have been [settled] without any findings."
Full circle
In 2011 there was an outcry when it was discovered that then-defence minister Lindiwe Sisulu had appointed Yengeni to a committee to conduct a new defence review, despite his conviction for the luxury car cover up.
Sisulu insisted in parliamentary answers to the Democratic Alliance that Yengeni had "paid his dues by serving a prison sentence and was released from custody".
At a media briefing she said: "I chose him to be a member of the committee because of the role he played in the first review.
"He has the necessary background of how we've come to be where we are."
Commission seeks evidence from Germany
Judge Willie Seriti's arms procurement commission on Thursday confirmed it was aware of the allegedly explosive nature of the evidence found by German authorities and said it was trying to secure it.
Commission spokesperson William Baloyi said: "We are aware of the many statements from a var-iety of sources within South Africa to the effect that the German investigators have uncovered massive evidence implicating various
people and entities in wrongdoing … We have been communicating with the German authorities to secure such evidence and are still awaiting their final response. Obviously the interactions with [them] are of a sensitive nature and we can therefore not comment further."
The commission will start public hearings in August.

AFRICAN BORDERS:
ITS PERIMETERS SAFETY AND SECURITY......!
With the present level of threats, insurgencies, terrorism, transnational crimes, local borders must be mapped to avoid occurrences which can lead to loss of lives and properties.
MAPPING BORDER ZONES USING MICROWAVE AND RADAR TECHNOLOGY CAN COVER MANY KILOMETERS....!

QUOTE - "The Ghanaian police officers were detained from the dawn of Monday June 10, 2013, till around midday of the same day before they were released to Ghana’s Immigration Service at Paga, after discussions among top security officers of the two countries.
The Ghanaian police officers entered the Burkinabe territory without prior information and approval and were taken for criminals who had disguised themselves as Ghanaian police officers. A Police source told DAILY GUIDE that the officers detained were, indeed, Ghanaian police officers who only strayed into the Burkina-Faso territory while they were patrolling along the Ghana border.
According to the source, the three police officers, in the quest to foil a smuggling activity, chased an Opel Kadet saloon car being used to smuggle a large quantity of petrol from Ghana, into Burkina-Faso at night.
“They only realized they were in Burkina-Faso when they were stopped by Burkinabe Soldiers who were also on patrol."

[AS I SEE IT]
The West African border areas are of great national significance but also of particular vulnerability to insecurity. A combination of internal and external threats has created a volatile atmosphere.
Domestic concerns arise from socio-economic problems and criminal threats, including money laundering, transshipment's of goods and services from ports; external concerns arise from criminal activities around arms, narcotics, and human trafficking and armed robbery including terrorism, with the influx of refugees from troubled hot-spots from the north, west trickling to the east and southern African regions adding to few already unstable environment.
Despite these factors, there have not been any comprehensive security studies on the perception of the people about the safety and security situation in the West African region in particular.
A combination of quantitative and qualitative research, including a household survey, focus group discussions, key informant interviews in a survey is recommended hoping to help identify both the security concerns of the local people and possible solutions to address them.
Border related crime, and the violence that is often associated with it, pose significant risks to public safety and the national security of GHANA and its neighbors.
The general perceptions of safety and security and law enforcement agencies, as well as focusing on the specific concerns with the pertinent issue of illegal immigration, border security, contraband's, arms and ammunition's smuggling, trafficking and armed violence and terrorism are vital to dealing with evolving challenges of TRENDS AND THREATS FACING WEST AFRICAN BORDERS.....! This piece was published after the Senate confirmed Mr. Mike Okiro, former Inspector General of Police, as the new Chairman of the Police Service Commission. I maintain my view that Mr. Okiro, falls short of the standard required for appointment as head of a police oversight agency external to the police. His record of performance, character and partisan connection disqualify him for this appointment. A body which is established with the constitutional mandate to recruit, promote and discipline all police personnel other than the IGP in an independent and impartial manner is expected to be composed and headed by non partisan individuals of unquestionable integrity.

To the well dressed black dude Who Tried to Mug Me on Durban Beachfront three nights ago,
I was the guy wearing the black denim jacket that you demanded that I hand over, along with my wallet, shortly after you pulled the knife on my girlfriend & I, threatening our lives. You also asked for my girlfriend's purse, rings and earrings too.
I can only hope that you somehow come across this rather important message.
First, I'd like to apologize for your embarrassment when I drew my pistol after you took my jacket. The evening was not that cold and I was wearing the jacket for a reason. My girlfriend had just bought me that Glock pistol for Christmas and we had picked up a new 'fast draw' shoulder holster for it that very evening.

Obviously you agree that it is a very intimidating weapon when pointed at your head wasn't it, especially when I blasted that one and only shot right past your right ear and out to sea?
I know it probably wasn't fun walking back to wherever you'd come from, bare footed wi
th your ear bleeding and ringing like a church bell, since I made you leave your expensive shoes, Nokia cell phone, and wallet with me. That prevented you from calling or running to your buddies to come help mug us again.
After I called your mother, or "Mama" as you had her listed in your cell, I explained the entire episode of what you'd done, fortunately she spoke English too and she seemed very shocked, said you worked at a local bank and wouldn’t do what I was telling her you had done. Anyway, I then went and filled up my petrol tank as well as four other people in the petrol garage on your credit card. The guy with the big V8 Jeep took R800 alone and was extremely grateful!
I gave your shoes to a homeless guy outside Joe Kools, along with all the cash in your wallet. That made his day!
I then threw your wallet into the big 7 series Beemer that was parked at the curb... After I broke the windshield and side window and keyed the entire driver's side of the car. I know that this bling car belong
s to a local enforcer and bouncer.
Later, I called a bunch of phone sex numbers from your cell phone. Vodacom just now shut down the line, although I only used the phone for a little over a day now, so what's going on with that?
Earlier, I managed to get in two threatening phone calls to the local ANC office and one to the bureau of state security (intelligence services) too, while mentioning President Zuma and Julius Malema as my probable targets. The state security guy seemed really intense and we had a nice long chat - I guess while he traced your number, etc.
In a way, perhaps I should apologize for not killing you... But, I feel this type of retribution is a far more appropriate punishment for your threatened crime. I wish you well as you try to sort through some of these rather immediate pressing issues and can only hope that you have the opportunity to reflect upon and perhaps reconsider the career path you've chosen to pursue in life.
Remember, next time you might not be so lucky. Have a
good day!
Thoughtfully yours,
Chris.

Has the Klang Valley descended into a state of lawlessness with near nightly incidence of audacious robberies in public areas? Or is this still an issue of “perception”?

The Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Najib Razak himself promised Malaysias a “war against crime” on Saturday when launching the “United Against Crime” programme with much fanfare. The newly appointed Inspector General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar proudly announced on his appointment date on May 16th that he wants to make safety and security his priority and "return" the streets to the people. But where is this “war against crime”?

It is as if these armed criminals were thumbing their noses at the Prime Minister and the Royal Malaysian Police pouring scorn on the ineffective threats issued by the latter. In fact the situation got so ridiculous on Wednesday night that these gang of 8 to 10 armed robbers can rob 2 eateries and then proceeded to enjoy and binge themselves at a local pub, following which they refused to pay and robbed the pub cashier as well!

On #BBCNewsday now... the US says they're convinced the Syrian government has been using chemical weapons, and that a red line has been crossed. They say they're now ready to give Syrian rebels more military help. What sort of form do you think that should take? And what else can be done to sort the situation in Syria out?

The moving story of a Rajput girl who embraces Islam and is then martyred by
her own family for the tenacity of her conviction. Hira’s murder seemed
insignificant in the light of so many others similar to it, or more brutal. Yet, the
striking effect it had on those in its proximity was cosmic. It shook their
foundation, their beliefs, their way of life, their very existence! “O Allah! Aren’t
you watching me?
O Allah! Am I not your beloved?
O Allah! Your love is sufficient for me, I do not need
anyone!” These were the last, heart-wrenching words,
lamented by Hira, carried away by the echoing
waves of the tumultuous river, penetrating into the
still-born souls of idol-worshippers. Hira, an outgoing, impulsive and bubbly
teenager
was the first born in an orthodox Hindu Rajput
family of Budhana village. Her father and uncle
were members of an infamous bandit group.
Looting, plundering and crime had come to them
by blood. After finishing her formal schooling, she applied for
her high school against the wishes of her
conservative family. To raise funds for her school
fee, she toiled in the fields, and unable to
understand the higher books, sought the help of a
Brahmin girl in the neighborhood whose brother belonged to a dacoit gang who
had their
headquarters in the nearby dense forest. He
seduced and talked the unsuspecting Hira into
eloping with him to the forest. Once there, Hira realized the enormity of her
mistake and instantly regretted her hasty, but life-
altering, decision. She thought of her family, and its
name – Rajput – which was dearer to them than
their lives, and now her one naïve act had scarred it
with scandal, the brunt of which would have to be borne for the rest of their
lives. But above all this
was a gut-wrenching fear for her dignity due to
which she was always edgy and did not have a
moment of peace living in the all-male bandit gang.
Every night, she secretly cried herself to sleep. One night, one of the Muslim
members of the gang,
saw her crying and inquired the reason. She
remorsefully related her wretched tale. The Muslim
boy had pity on her plight and promised to help
her reach home safely. So he warned the others
that she seemed to be a brave girl and was extremely sure of herself. Taking
his cue, the others
kept to themselves and never bothered her. For her
own safety, they disguised her as a man. Hira noticed that in the entire group,
the Muslim boy
differed from the others – he never broke his word,
gave shrewd advice and he always kept aside a
part of his share for the poor. He made sure that
Hira was given a separate place to sleep and would
check on her many times during the night to ensure her safety. After a few
days when he was
convinced that Hira wouldn’t betray their hideout,
he put his plan in to action – to help Hira escape. On a ruse of sending her on
an errand, he secretly
instructed her to go to the police station and file a
report saying that she had escaped from the
clutches of her kidnappers. Hira did as she was bid.
On inquiry, the police got to know that a missing
report had been filed in Budhana by her name. So Hira was taken there and
was safely handed over
to her family. Although she was taken in by them, her family was
always suspicious and averse to keeping her there
because of her rebellious ways. Hira tried to
convince them that her dignity was safe but they
refused to hear any part of it. One of her learned
elders suggested that she undergo certain tests at the hospital to confirm what
she claimed. Heeding
the advice, she was immediately taken to the
hospital and when the doctor assured them that
she was still a virgin, they were greatly relieved. After this event, Hira was
preoccupied with the
Muslims and frequently mentioned a Muslim boy
who had protected her in the jungle. She started
visiting a few Muslim neighbors, in the course of
which she was gifted a copy of “Dozakh ka khatka
aur Jannat ki kunji” by a girl. The sight of an Islamic book in their Hindu
household ignited a raging fire
in her uncle’s heart. He was enraged beyond
measure and gave her a sound beating and
threatened to kill her if it happened again. But Islam
had made an unshakable abode in her heart and
had illuminated the dark creases in it and nothing could sway her from it. She
went to a Moulvi in a
Madrasa and converted to Islam and secretly learnt
to perform the Salah. She felt stifled and out of place
in the dark ignorant household of idolaters, and
forever had an overcast look on her formerly
cheerful face. Exasperated, she hatched a plan with a Muslim gentleman and
his wife and left for Phullat. She lived in Delhi at Maulana Kaleem’s sister’s
place
and here she flowered as never before. She formed
a deep bond with her and called her Aunty Rani
affectionately. She learnt a lot under her care where
she stayed for a year and a half. Since she had been
very close to her family, especially her mother, she remembered and missed
them a lot. One night she dreamt that her mother had passed
away. She became hysterical and was greatly
disturbed by the fear that her mother would die a
disbeliever. She pleaded to go home but Maulana
Kaleem reasoned with her that if she returned, her
family would kill her, and even worse, they would force her to give up Islam. It
was this risk of losing
her faith that kept her emotions at bay for some
time. But unable to see her in such a miserable and
homesick condition, he reluctantly gave in to her
unyielding insistence under one condition – that
she be steadfast in her faith and go home with the pure intention of inviting her
family to the call of
Islam, since, if she truly loved her family, it became
her duty to worry about their eternal life and take
pains to prevent them from becoming the fuel of
hell. Hira told him that her family was incensed even
by the name of Islam. Maulana Kaleem assured her by saying: “Once their
hearts are enlightened with the glow of
Iman, they would view their religion with the same
contempt and derision in which they hold Islam
today. After all, even you had the same idea of
Islam before.” He encouraged her that if she went with this
intention, she would be under Allah’s protection
and even if she was made to suffer, it wouldn’t be
in vain as it was a Sunnah of our beloved Prophet.
He also presented to her the worst-case scenario
that even if she was killed, she would die a martyr, whose rewards commence
with death and he was
certain that her martyrdom would become a means
to her family’s guidance and that would be the best
bargain she could hope for. He asked her to
perform two Rak’ah to supplicate to Allah for her
family’s guidance and to give her the strength to call them to Islam.
Eventually, when she reached home, her family was
furious and her uncle brutally bruised and beat her
up. She refused to disclose her former location but
fearlessly informed them that she had converted to
Islam and this decision of hers was resolute and
immovable. When they tried to persuade her to give up her new-found faith she
retorted by calling
them to Islam instead. Her mother being
continuously unwell passed away after two months
of suffering. She pleaded with her father to bury
her mother in the Muslim graveyard instead of
cremating her as she had converted to Islam before her death, but her plea fell
on deaf ears. Subsequent to that, intense arguments broke out
within the family as Hira was relentless in inviting
her family to Islam and they were just as
determined to resist it. Exhausted by her persistent
efforts, her uncle sought advice from an extremist
Hindu group who recommended killing her as the only choice. One day, her
father and uncle decided to take her
out on the ruse of seeing her aunt, but, as if she
was already aware of her impending doom she
bathed and dressed in new clothes and requested
to perform her last salah. Though they set out on
an unknown route she never questioned and eagerly went along with them.
When they reached
the banks of the river, she asked her father
laughingly: “Are you taking me to my aunt’s place
or my Beloved’s?” Even after this, her heartless father and tyrannical
uncle had no mercy on her and it did not even
appear to put a hitch in their stride. Her cruel uncle
pushed the angelic girl into the deep pit saying
“How will you save us from hell fire now? Here have
a taste of hell!” and smothered her with petrol and unflinchingly set her on
fire. The fire seemed to devour her new clothes and
brazenly wrapped its obliterating arms around the
untainted body beneath. Her spineless father stood
rooted in shock watching the agonizing plight
inflicted on his beloved daughter. The burning Hira raised her trembling hands
towards heaven and beseeched: “My Allah! Aren’t you watching me? My Allah!
Am I
not your beloved? My Allah! Your love is sufficient
for me, I do not need anyone,” then she begged
her father and uncle saying: “Father! Accept Islam
before it is too late. Uncle! Become a Muslim.” Her uncle was angered by her
undying insistence,
and dragged her father away from the nerve-
racking scene. Her father begged to go back and
pleaded that he would try one last time to move her
from her treacherous faith, but in vain. On their way
back, when they were passing by the scene of their heinous crime, they could
hear her screaming La
ilaha illa Allah in her fiery grave. Although, her father and uncle returned home,
deluding themselves of having done their duty to
their religion, the last words of the earnest martyr
had shattered their stony hearts and seemed to
mock at them for their “religious loyalty” and it
ultimately succeeded in accomplishing what the living, unyielding and angelic
Hira could not… Hira’s murder seemed insignificant in the light of so
many others similar to it, or more brutal. Yet, the
striking effect it had on those in its proximity was
cosmic. It shook their foundation, their beliefs, their
way of life, their very existence! Hira’s uncle, Abdulla, narrates: “My story of
entering into the fold of Islam is a ray
of hope to every dejected heart, for while the most
Merciful and Beneficent can bestow His mercy on a
lowly being and barbarian like me, it proves that
anyone is susceptible to His generous guidance.” “As a befitting epilogue to
Hira’s murder, her father
could not come to terms with the fact that he was
responsible for callously burning his daughter to
death for accepting a different faith, which
alarmingly deteriorated his health. Resigned to his
fast-approaching fate (death), he realized his crime and pleaded to die on the
faith of Hira as a Muslim.
Broken down by Hira’s death and his brother’s
near-to-death condition, her uncle relinquished his
hold on his brother and helped him to fulfill his last
wish in the nick of time and ultimately he was given
a Muslim burial in Delhi. “Unable to accept the death of my brother as a
Muslim and absolutely convinced that it was due to
a curse of some Muslim which had befallen my
family, I decided to seek the help of a Tantric
(Exorcist). During my bus journey to the Tantric’s
home, it was a serendipity that a cassette was playing, in which the poet
narrated an incident of
the Prophet Muhammad where an old lady
burdened his back with filth while he prostrated
himself (Sajdah) and he returned her cruelty with
kindness and visited her when she was sick. Coincidentally, the speaker
happened to be directly
above my head as if the message was specifically
meant for me and it made an everlasting impression
on my dejected heart. I realized that a Prophet with
such qualities could never be a liar. I wanted to
know more about Islam and gave up my futile quest for breaking an imaginary
spell. “I boarded another bus to take me home and, once
again, I was immensely fortunate to hear an audio
cassette of the renowned Pakistani speaker, Moulvi
Haneef, who was speaking about death and the life
after death – something which I had recently
witnessed. Even though the bus had reached my destination, I continued my
journey for the sole
purpose of listening to the whole talk. The
enlightening information I had gained by a mere
cassette uprooted the deep-seated aversion I had
towards Islam and I am grateful to my Creator who
flung versatile and almost irresistible opportunities in my way to guide me to
the straight path. “On the same bus, I happened to meet a Moulvi and
expressed my desire to convert to Islam to him
upon which he guided me to Moulana Kaleem of
Phullat as the unsurpassed entity for this noble
cause. Without a backward glance, I proceeded on
my journey to Phullat and with every second, I knew I was reaching out to my
Creator. I declared
the Shahadah on 31st January 2000 at the hands
of Maulana Kaleem and was named Abdullah. I
requested him for an hour of his time to converse
privately with me and recalled remorsefully the
horrific and barbaric acts I had committed in my life. “Hearing the agonizing
end of Hira, he could not
hold back his tears and wept profusely for her
plight. He remembered Hira with a tender
poignancy and told me that Hira had lived with his
sister in Delhi. Yet, he reassured me by quoting an
ayah of the Qur’an which says, ‘Surely, good deeds drive away evil deeds. That
is a reminder unto
those who (wish to) remember’ (Surah 11: 114),
and urged me to save as many lives as I could, to
find peace within myself. “After this, I made it my mission to endeavor to
save as many lives as possible. I am grateful to
Almighty Allah for bestowing me with the
opportunity to do so during the Gujarat riots. I
pretended to be a Hindu and managed to alert the
Muslims to about 10-11 ghastly attacks planned by the Hindus and was able
to get a number of
Muslims to safety prior to the attacks. Alhamdulillah, I also managed to save
400
innocent Muslim students of a Madrasa in
Bhavnagar due to my timely tip-off to the police
officer with whose help I demolished the back wall
of the Madrasa and rescued them. Maulana told me
that if Allah, the Most Merciful, could grant a person like me with the gift of
guidance then he would
surely forgive me. I was greatly comforted by this. “I sold my landholdings in
Budhana and purchased
a house in Delhi. Finally, after one year, I was
successful in convincing my wife, and my nieces to
accept Islam. I spent some time with the Tableeghi
Jama’at to learn about Islam. “Whenever I am depressed and remember Hira, I
read Surah al-Buruj (Ayah 4-11): “Slain be the makers of the pit – of the well-
stroked
fire, when they sat by it; and were witness to what
they did to the believers. And they took not
vengeance on them, but because they believed in
Allah the Mighty, the Praiseworthy, Whose is the
dominion of the heavens and the earth. And Allah is witness over all things.
Surely those who burned
the believing men and women and, thereafter,
repented not, theirs shall be the punishment of Hell
and their’s the punishment of burning. Surely,
those who believed and did good works, theirs
shall be gardens underneath which flow rivers. That is the great
triumph.” (Surah al-Buruj 4: 11) “That puts me at ease with myself. I often
ponder
about the miracle of the Qur’an, which even though
was revealed 1400 years ago, relates the event of
me burning Hira almost exactly to the dot. “I sincerely hope that Allah forgives
me and grants
me peace in this life as well as in the hereafter. In
spite of all these years there is not a single second
in which I do not remember my beloved Hira and
the last words wrenching out of her scorched lips
saying: ‘My Allah! Aren’t you watching me? My Allah! Am I
not your beloved? Father! Accept Islam before it is
too late, Uncle! Do become a Muslim!

REX HUMBARD BOOKS.

I always liked watching the Rex Humbard ministries on television, on Sunday mornings, because they were very inspiring. I always sent away for a new book title that was advertised free on the program and it came from the Sydney office. I didn’t like getting them for nothing so I always sent them a two dollar cheque with every order once a week, a tax receipt would be sent to me but I always kept them.

Before I traded the car in, I managed to collect my money from the old Greek woman who kept avoiding me all the time. She eventually paid me the fifteen dollars that she owed me when her daughter let me in and I said, I’m not leaving until you pay the money or better still, I’ll repossess the sewing machine and sell it. Woman threatened to call the police and get me for stealing.

I said, you stole my money when you snatched it from my shop and ran away with a Taxi cab so pay up because I paid to get it fixed and I’m only asking for my own money back, there’s nothing for me, I’m not making anything because I used my credit card to pay twenty dollars but you gave me only five and got your daughter to snatch the sewing machine from me and ran away. It is a crime what you did. I have to pay the credit with interest and she paid up.

What money I earned from my weekly salary in wash machine repairs all went to the bank to pay my credit because I owed them $1,895.00 plus interest of two percent until it’s paid out. Those little things like petrol, car repairs, changing of two tires and wheel balancing, break repairs on the car that were not covered by the warranty. A penal beating job when some idiot stopped his car in front of me, in full traffic and some bitch rammed me from behind. Insurance paid for penal repairs but I had to pay credit for a new shassy to replace the damaged one.
